Delhi government has invoked ESMA i.e. Essential Services Maintenance Act against doctors to normalize the functions of the hospitals. Doctors had called-off their strike on Tuesday night. They have been on strike for last two days. Hours after the government decision about ESMA, doctors decided to resume to their work. “Doctors called-off their strike and conveyed to the government” Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said.

The government run hospitals effected with the strike. Keeping in mind about the situations of health services in government hospitals in the state the Delhi government wanted to put the strike to an end and responded. The doctors were demanded hike in their salaries and the government’s intervention in other issues. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the government is ready to take all the demands of the doctors and there is no need of a strike.
“The government had agreed the 19 demands of the doctors” Health Minister Jain said earlier. Along with the initial demands, there were five more which discussed in the meeting and agreed. Jain said that the main demands from the doctors were the security. We have agreed to provide adequate security for them. I met Lt Governor to discuss about the security and the order has been made by the Governor to the Delhi Police to provide the security at Hospitals.
“I will review the situation along with the doctors after three months. Jain also added that the beds in the hospitals will be increased and construction of the new ones is the future plan. Emergency services will be strengthened, as of now most of the medicines are available and by August 100 percent medicines will be ready” said Jain
