One of the world’s most recognized artists, Portuguese painter Paula Rego, died today at the age of 87 at her London residence, the Louis I Foundation, an organization associated with the deceased painter, reported.

Paula Rego:

With his death, “Portuguese culture lost one of its most important and irreplaceable creators,” the foundation said.

Born in Lisbon, Paula Rego was educated in London, where she has lived for half a century.

Right until August 21, the Picasso Museum in Málaga displays his work with very difficult paintings, with far-reaching emotional impact and this shows his influence on contemporary art.

The Málaga exhibition brings together more than 80 works, representative of all the artist’s formal periods, in the creative range from 1950 to 2009.
